Short statement about the participation
It is a fact that due to the increase in tourism and the climate crisis, new facts are created in the management of harmful organisms. Data which, as shown by very recent experience, must be taken into account for decision making, since harmful organisms can be detrimental to Public Health, Property and the reputation of Tourism Area Enterprises, with indirect consequences even for our economy. Let us not forget that this year in Athens, even during the winter months, citizens and experts alike have noticed an increased presence of mosquitoes in the urban environment.

We cannot forget Paris, where, as reported in reports in the International Press, there is an increased presence of bedbugs even in public places, a few months before the organisation of the 2024 Olympic Games.

The talk will inform managers of short-term rental accommodation about the procedures they can follow to reduce the risk of the presence of harmful insects (bedbugs, cockroaches, mosquitoes, etc.), rodents or other unwanted animals (birds, etc.) in places where people live, move or work. They will also be informed about the good practices to be followed in any integrated pest management programme, always emphasising prevention and aiming to protect public health, the environment and the reputation of businesses.
